Wolverines Enjoy Home Openers

The Peterborough Wolverines football teams enjoyed a great day on Saturday in the opening of their home OFC schedules. In the triple header at TASS Field, the Wolverines Bantams defeated the Toronto Jr. Argos 49-30 bringing their record to 1-1. In the second game the Wolverines Jr. Varsity squad easily handled the Jr. Argos 51-7 to record their second straight victory and in the night cap the Wolverines Sr. Varsity club improved to 2-0 with a convincing 60-6 win over the Nipissing Wild from North Bay.

In the Bantam game the Wolverines started strong and lead 35-8 at the half and the Jr. Argos played better in the second half closing the gap to the final 49-30 victory for the Wolverines. Scoring for the Wolverines were Carson Harvey with 5 touchdowns, Jamie Hubble with 2 touchdowns and Hayden Mcllmoyle converted on 4 convert kicks and added a single.

In the Jr. Varsity game the Wolverines started strong as well and were able to build a convincing 48-0 lead at the half. The Toronto Jr. Argos made a game of it in the second half out scoring the Wolverines 7-3, however, the Wolverines were able to hold onto the 51-7 victory. Scoring for the Wolverines were Mack McFarlane with 3 touchdowns, Kyle Milburn with 2 touchdowns and single touchdowns by Max Levasseur and John green. Spencer Vesnaver was successful on 6 convert kicks and added a 20 yard field goal.

In the nightcap, the Wolverines Sr. Varsity squad recorded their second straight victory with a convincing 60-6 win over the Nipissing Wild. The Wolverines were impressive displaying their outstanding passing attack lead by quarterback Ryan Astrom who was successful in completing 5 touchdown passes. They also were able to add a balanced running game as they recorded their 60-6 win. Scoring for the Wolverines were Nick Clarkin with 4 touchdowns, Keegan Crough with 2 and single touchdowns by Matthew Funk and Blake Dalgarno . Tyson Jeffery was successful on 7 convert kicks and added a 37 yard field goal and a single point off a missed field goal attempt. Hayden Bruce recorded a single point on a kick into the enzone.

All three Wolverines teams will be on the road this Saturday and they will be facing very strong opponents. The Bantams travel to Georgetown to face the North Halton Crimson Tide in a 3 pm contest. Both the Jr. Varsity and Sr. Varsity teams will be in Sudbury to battle the Gladiators with the Jr. Varsity game at 1 pm followed by the Sr. Varsity contest at 4 pm. This will certainly be a challenging test for all three teams as they continue to work hard towards capturing their respective division championships.
 

Wolverines Open The 2017 Season

The Peterborough Wolverines Rep Football teams opened the 2017 Ontario Football Conference (OFC) on the road with their longest trips of the season.     On Saturday both the Jr. Varsity and Sr. Varsity squads were in Sault Ste. Marie to face the newest entry in the OFC, the Sault Sabercats.      The Jr. Varsity started  the season with a convincing 57-21 win over the Sabercats and the Sr. Varsity followed with  35-13 win in the nightcap.   What a great way to cap a long trip!

Varsity Wolverines Win Exhibition Game

The Sr. Varsity Wolverines Football team hosted the Cornwall Wildcats from the OVFL in a pre-season exhibition game at the TASS Field on Saturday May 13th and the Wolverines were able to score a very convincing 59-7 victory over the Wildcats.

2017 OFC Championships

Ontario Football ConferenceThe Peterborough Wolverines will be hosting the 2017 Ontario Football Conference Championship for Bantam (13/14 yrs), Junior Varsity (15/16 yrs) and Varsity (17-19 yrs) levels at the beautiful Thomas A Stewart Field on Saturday August 5th.  Game times will be 11am (Bantam), 2pm (Jr. Varsity) and 6pm (Varsity).
We look forward to hosting the day and invite everyone to come out and see some high level football being played by very dedicated young men.

The game day atmosphere for our regular season games is recognized as one of the best if not the best in the league and we would like the Championship Day to be even bigger and better.

Exihbition Game May 13th

The Peterborough Wolverines Football Club announces that their Sr. Varsity team will be hosting a pre-season exhibition game with the Cornwall Wildcats on Saturday May 13th at the Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School Field. The game will start at 2:30 pm and there will be a full concession stand and no gate fee for this event.

The Cornwall Wildcats compete in another summer league , the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and will be a good test for our Wolverines as they prepare for the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) season which opens play on the weekend of May 27th. Coach Parkes , his Staff and their players are looking forward to this challenge.

All three Wolverines teams open the season on the road with both the Jr. Varsity and Sr. Varsity teams travelling to Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday May 27th to face the Sault Sabercats who are the newest entry in the OFC. The JV game is at 1 pm followed by the SV Game at 4 pm with both games at the Superior Heights Secondary School in the Sault.

On Sunday May 28th the Wolverines Bantams travel to Sarnia to battle the Sturgeons in a 2 pm contest at the Norm Perry Park Complex in Sarnia. The opening weekend is a challenge for all three teams as it has the longest trips of the season. The Wolverines are working hard in practice and are looking forward to an exciting OFC season as they strive to win their respective divisions that will allow them to compete for the overall OFC Championships when they take place in Peterborough at the TASS Field on August 5th.

The Wolverines Organization is pleased and excited that they and Peterborough have been awarded the “OFC Champ Day” and they look forward to being a great host for this event!

Euchre Tournament Fundraiser: April 28th
