2016 WOLVERINES FINAL SEASON RESULTS

On Saturday the Peterborough Wolverines Rep football teams completed their OFC regular seasons with two of the three teams qualifying for the post season playoffs. The Sr. Varsity and Jr. Varsity squads will be moving ahead while the Bantams have now completed their season.

The Sr. Varsity Wolverines were defeated 51-3 by the Burlington Stampeders , who are possibly the best Sr. Varsity team in the OFC. The Wolverines record is 6-2 and they have maintained a second place finish in the Ramsay Conference and will now host the North Halton Crimson Tide, the third place team in the first round of the playoffs. The game will be this Saturday with a 5 pm kickoff at the TAS Field. The Wolverines are looking forward to this game and their participation in the drive to win their conference and go the OFC championship in Hamilton on August 13th. Scoring for the Wolverines was Nick Clarkin with a 15 yard field goal.

2016 Wolverines Week #8 Results

On Saturday the Wolverines Sr. Varsity football team secured second place in the OFC Ramsay Conference Sr. Varsity Division with a 28-0 victory in North Bay against the Nipissing Wild. The Wolverines will finish the OFC regular season when they host the Burlington Stampeders in a 5 pm contest at the TAS Field. The Wolverines with the second place in their conference will host the third place team in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday July 30th at the TAS Field. The opponent and game time will be announced soon.

2016 Wolverines Week #7 Results

On Saturday the Wolverines provided the returning Wolverines Alumni with a n exciting day of football as they hosted the Toronto Jr. Argos in a triple header at the TAS Field. The Bantams easily handled the Argos 34-14 improving their record to 3-3 and keeping them in contention for a playoff spot with two games to go in the regular season.

The Jr. Varsity Wolverines were able to get back on the winning side in defeating the Argos 34-0. The Wolverines are now 4-3 with one game remaining and also in the playoff picture. The Sr. Varsity game was a thriller as both teams battled for the top spot in their division. The Argos prevailed edging the Wolverines 28-27 to take the top spot and dropping the Wolverines to a second place in the division with a 5-1 record with two games remaining.

Wolverines Alumni Day

This Saturday July 9th will  be a very special day for the Wolverines Organization as they introduce their inaugural “Wolverines Alumni Day”. This is an opportunity for the Wolverines to pay tribute and to thank their former players and coaches as they have been instrumental in the development of the Wolverines program. The alumni players and coaches will be admitted free and the players are asked to wear their games jerseys and the coaches their coach’s shirts. They are to register at the main admissions gate and they will be introduced after the Jr. Varsity game and prior to the Sr. Varsity game.

The Wolverines Organization truly appreciates their former players and coaches and want to sincerely thank them for their commitment and dedication. Go Wolverines!
 

2016 Wolverines Week #6 Results

On Saturday the Wolverines Jr. Varsity team hosted the Forest City Thunderbirds from London at the TAS Field while both the Wolverines Bantams and Sr. Varsity squads enjoyed a Bye weekend. It was a disappointing day for the Jr. Varsity team as they dropped another close decision in losing to the Thunderbirds 22-20 and now their record is 3-3.

The Wolverines played well at times and had a 15-9 lead at the half, however, the Thunderbirds took advantage of Wolverines’ mistakes and came back strong in the second half outscoring the Wolverines 13-5 to seal the victory. Scoring TD’s for the Wolverines were Keegan Crough and Ethan Ross with one each. Keegan Crough added a 17 yard Field Goal and Quinn Clancey converted on two convert kicks. Graeme Heighway added a single point off a punt and the Wolverines recorded a 2 point safety at the end of the game.

This Saturday, July 9th, the Wolverines will host the Toronto Jr. Argos at the TAS Field with the Bantam game at 11 am, the Jr. Varsity game at 2 pm and the final contest will be the Sr. Varsity game at 5 pm.

2016 Wolverines Week #5 Cottage Cup Results

On Saturday the Peterborough Wolverines football teams travelled to Barrie to play the Huronia Stallions in their regular season OFC games and to participate in the inaugural battle for the newly created “Cottage Cup” between the two organizations. The idea of the Cup was developed this past winter when the two organizations wanted to add something special to their rivalry that has grown over the past five years. The Cottage Cup” is to be retained for the year by the club winning the most of the three games and to be contested again the next year.
