The Sr. Varsity Wolverines Football team hosted the Cornwall Wildcats from the OVFL in a pre-season exhibition game at the TASS Field on Saturday May 13th and the Wolverines were able to score a very convincing 59-7 victory over the Wildcats.

The Wolverines passing attack was outstanding with both quarterbacks Ryan Astrom and

Rylan Gwyn putting on a very good aerial game and the special team returns were well executed. This was a good test for the Wolverines as they prepare to open the OFC season on Saturday May 27th when they travel north to meet the newest OFC member, the Sault Ste. Marie Sabercats, who many are picking to be a top contender in the Ramsay Conference (North) of the OFC.

The Wolverines scoring was lead by their outstanding wide receiver Nick Clarkin who scored 4 TD’s with two by pass receptions and two by punt returns. Also scoring TD’s were Alex Lazcano with two, Brayden Murney and Matthew Funk with 1 each. Hayden Bruce converted 6 PAT kicks, with Tyson Jeffery adding 2 and a 35 yard Field goal.

The Defense played well and the Wolverines were generally pleased with their overall performance.
All three Wolverines teams open the OFC season with both the Jr. Varsity and Sr. Varsity teams travelling to the Sault on Saturday May 27 to the face the Sabercats and the Bantams open their season on Sunday May 28th when they visit the Sarnia Sturgeons . All three teams look forward to an outstanding 2017 OFC season.
